Video Doorbell Industry Enters a “Value-Driven” Era: Global Shipments Surpass 33.67 Million Units in 2025, China Accelerates Smart Upgrades
With the continuous maturation of smart home ecosystems and heightened consumer awareness of home security, video doorbells are transitioning from novelty gadgets to essential components of residential safety systems. According to the latest industry reports, global video doorbell shipments are projected to reach 33.67 million units in 2025—a year-over-year increase of over 10%. Notably, China’s market alone is expected to surpass 4.18 million units in sales, demonstrating robust growth momentum.
Technological advancements are fueling product evolution, with AI, high-definition imaging, and on-device intelligence emerging as key differentiators. Tech-driven brands like 360 and EZVIZ are enhancing security reliability through innovations such as human detection, PIR sensors, and offline facial recognition. Meanwhile, ecosystem-integrated players like Xiaomi and Huawei leverage platforms like Mi Home and HarmonyOS to enable seamless interoperability between video doorbells, smart locks, lighting, and surveillance cameras—delivering a cohesive home security experience.
Notably, market concentration is intensifying. In the first half of 2025, the top four brands—Xiaomi, 360, TP-Link, and EZVIZ—captured a combined 84.6% share of sales on China’s major e-commerce platforms. At the same time, niche-focused brands like Lockin and CMIT are carving out differentiated niches by targeting high-security households or rental scenarios.
However, rapid growth has also introduced new challenges around privacy and neighbor relations. In a landmark 2023 case, Hefei Intermediate People’s Court ordered the removal of a video doorbell that infringed on neighbors’ privacy—highlighting the need for manufacturers to embed stronger privacy safeguards and educate users on responsible installation.
Looking ahead, with the rollout of 5G, refined AI algorithms, and deeper smart home adoption, video doorbells will evolve beyond visitor identification into intelligent security gateways capable of remote monitoring, anomaly alerts, and community integration. By 2031, the global video doorbell lens market is projected to reach RMB 5.728 billion, signaling vast long-term potential for the industry.
